The first semifinal in Costa Rica will open the main 57th International Valencian Paella Contest of Sueca in 2017. It will take place on March 11th at Kölbi Center of Parque Viva in La Guácima, just 50 kilometers far from the capital city, San José. Vicente Aguilar, a Valencian based in the Central American country and owner of the restaurant La Lluna de Valencia in San Pedro de Barva will be the organizer of the event, for which almost twenty participants are expected.
All chefs who request it can participate, accrediting their professional exercise under the backing of an hotel, restaurant or catering.
As usual in all the international semifinals, El Concurs will offer two master-classes of Valencian paella, taught by Maestro Paellero Jesús Melero, international organizer and member of the Jury, and Vicente Aguilar of the Restaurant La Lluna de Valencia in dates prior to the event. All the ingredients to make the paella will be provided: rice, courtesy of the international sponsor Arroz Tartana, meats, spices and firewood. Also the basic tools for its preparation, in a paella kit consisting of paella, tripod and a palette.
All the participants in the semifinal will receive a diploma accrediting their participation, and gold, silver and bronze medals for the first three winners.
In addition, the first prize will win a direct place for the Grand Final of the International Paella Valenciana 2017 Competition to be held in Sueca, Valencia.
